Kitchen Backsplash Remodel in Kyle
About This Project
This kitchen in a Kyle home in the Anthem subdivision was undergoing a full remodel, and we were brought in to handle the backsplash tile once the new gray shaker cabinets and white quartz countertops were installed. The backsplash is a marble-look porcelain subway tile in a standard 3x6 format, set in a classic brick-offset pattern with light gray grout. The installation covers the full run from countertop to upper cabinet bottom on all walls, with a full-height section behind the range.
One of the more time-consuming details on this job was the range hood surround. The hood has an irregular profile that required multiple small cuts to tile around cleanly rather than leaving gaps that would be filled with caulk. We measured and templated the cuts before scoring the tile, which is slower but produces a much cleaner result than cutting by eye. All outlet and switch boxes were extended to sit flush with the finished tile surface, and the counter-to-tile joint received a flexible sealant in lieu of grout.
What We Did
Assessed wall flatness and layout starting point from the range wall center
Templated cuts around range hood surround before scoring any tile
Set 3x6 subway tile in brick-offset pattern, extended all outlet boxes flush
Grouted with light gray sanded grout and caulked counter-to-tile joint
