Tile Installation in New Braunfels, TX

From Gruene-area historic homes to new builds in Veramendi and Vintage Oaks, we handle tile work across New Braunfels.

New Braunfels has a mix of housing stock that we do not see in the same combination anywhere else in our service area. The Gruene historic district has late 19th and early 20th century homes with pier-and-beam construction, where subfloor flex is a real concern before any floor tile goes down. Meanwhile, the Veramendi and Vintage Oaks developments on the north side of town are among the newer and larger custom home builds in the region, where homeowners often want large-format natural stone and custom shower work that matches the scale of the house.

"New Braunfels pier-and-beam homes need an uncoupling membrane under floor tile, not just cement board. The subfloor moves with humidity changes, and without that layer, grout cracks within a season."

New Braunfels Tile FAQ

It depends on the existing floor and the subfloor condition. Pier-and-beam homes in the Gruene area often have original wood plank floors that flex noticeably. Tiling directly over a flexible wood floor without an uncoupling membrane will result in cracked grout within months. We use Schluter Ditra or a similar uncoupling membrane in these situations to isolate the tile from the movement in the wood below. This adds a small amount of height to the finished floor, which we account for at transitions.

High ambient humidity does not significantly affect grout selection for interior spaces, as long as the space is climate-controlled. For outdoor areas near the river or in covered patios, we recommend epoxy grout or a high-quality sanded grout with a penetrating sealer, as these hold up better to the moisture cycling that comes with outdoor exposure in a humid climate.

Yes. We handle multi-room and whole-home tile packages for larger custom homes. For large projects, we schedule a detailed walkthrough to assess each space, discuss material choices, and put together a phased timeline that works around your move-in or renovation schedule. We will be straightforward about our capacity and lead time so you can plan accordingly.

Some natural stone works well outdoors in the New Braunfels climate, and some does not. Travertine and certain slates are durable outdoors if properly sealed. Marble and polished limestone are not recommended for exterior use because they are susceptible to acid etching from rain and organic material, and polished surfaces become slippery when wet. We can recommend specific stone types and finishes that are appropriate for outdoor use in Central Texas conditions.

Lead time varies depending on our current workload. For smaller jobs like a backsplash or single bathroom, we can often schedule within one to two weeks. Larger projects or whole-home work may require more lead time. Contact us with your project details and preferred timing and we will give you a realistic availability window.
